Care for the whole Empire State

New York is not one place, and the right therapist is rarely the closest one. Sessions reach the five boroughs, Long Island, the Hudson Valley, the Capital Region around Albany, Central New York around Syracuse and Utica, the Southern Tier, the Finger Lakes and Rochester, and Buffalo and the western counties.

Clients join from New York City, Buffalo, Rochester, Yonkers, Syracuse, Albany, New Rochelle, Mount Vernon, Schenectady, Utica and Ithaca, and from the towns in between. Because everything happens over secure video, availability is exactly the same wherever in the state you are: the deciding factor becomes fit rather than distance.

Scheduling

When we can meet

Because New York keeps Eastern time, every slot you see is already in your own clock. Nothing to convert.

In your local time, appointments run weekdays, 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, plus every other Saturday, 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Sessions start on the hour, need at least 24 hours' notice, and can be booked up to four weeks ahead.

Worth knowing

The commuter problem nobody warns you about

Enormous numbers of New Yorkers work somewhere that is not New York. Manhattan offices fill with people from New Jersey and Connecticut, and plenty of New York residents make that trip in the opposite direction every day.

Here is the rule that catches people out. A therapy license is tied to where the client is physically sitting during the session, not where they live or pay taxes. I hold a New York license. I do not hold one in New Jersey or Connecticut. A session taken from your desk in Jersey City or Stamford is therefore not something I can legally do, even though you live in New York and we would both rather get on with it.

This is a scheduling detail, not a wall. It means booking for times when you will be on the New York side, which for most people is early morning, evening, or a day working from home. Tell me what your week actually looks like and we will find the slots that fit it.

Common questions

Are you licensed to see clients in New York?
Yes. I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor licensed in New York, one of eleven states where I hold a license, so we can meet legally and ethically wherever in the state you are.
Can I fit sessions around an unpredictable work schedule?
That is one of the biggest advantages of virtual care - no commute means a session fits in a one-hour window, and we can find a consistent time that works around your real life.
I live in New York but commute to New Jersey or Connecticut. Can I take a session from work?
Not from New Jersey or Connecticut, because I am not licensed in either. A therapy license follows where you are physically located during the session rather than where you live. Sessions from anywhere in New York State are fine, so we schedule for times when you are on the New York side, which is usually early morning, evening, or a work-from-home day.
Do you see clients outside New York City?
Yes, anywhere in the state. Clients join from Long Island, the Hudson Valley, the Capital Region, Central New York, the Finger Lakes and the western counties. Sessions are virtual, so upstate and downstate have exactly the same availability.
Is virtual therapy as effective as in-person?
For most concerns, yes. Research consistently finds telehealth therapy comparable to in-person care. Sessions happen over a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform: all you need is privacy, a device with a camera, and an internet connection.
